Did you ever consider visiting the Outer Banks off season?  Why Not!

Did you know?

  • The temperatures on the Outer Banks in September and October are much the same as those in May and June (75 – 85 degree days) but… the water is actually warmer!!!!
  • Most of our fabulous restaurants remain open from Easter weekend through Thanksgiving and some are open year-round.
  • The best fishing on the Outer Banks is during the shoulder seasons. (Mid-spring and mid-fall).
  • Finally, the surfing, sailing, kayaking, bird-watching, book-reading, card-playing, music-enjoying, drink-on-the-deck-sunset-watching are all just as much fun.

There is so much going on during in the off season. Surfing contests, bluegrass, jazz, and music festivals, seafood festivals, a triathlon, a pirate festival, a charity walk, and a whole weekend of marathons are just some of the great off-season reasons to come to the Outer Banks.

So, as the summer visitors settle back into their routines of driving their kids to soccer practice, commuting to work, grocery shopping, etc., life on the Outer Banks remains beautifully warm and incredibly peaceful.  There is less traffic, there are no lines for dinner at most restaurants, and a sense of calm settles over the Outer Banks.

There is a certain warm romance to the light in the off-season.  Bathed in this glow, visitors and residents alike can rejuvenate, relax, and enjoy the beauty of everything the Outer Banks has to offer.
