Visiting the waterfront in historic downtown Manteo is like stepping back in time.  Sitting in the shade and looking at the Elizabeth II moored across the water you can almost imagine what the day would have been like there during bygone times.

Manteo’s waterfront is easily reached by car or boat, and public parking is available for both. A wide boardwalk runs along the waterfront where people can find boat charters, walk their dogs, enjoy the sights, or just have a seat along the walk and sip a cool drink.

During the summer months, special events are held each week. At the Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings, you’ll find locally grow produce and homemade products. Tuesdays in Manteo is a weekly craft fair which features handcrafted items, sea glass, candles, paintings, and many other interesting treasures.  First Friday, a family-oriented fun-filled street festival, fills the sidewalks with live music, magic, artisans, period-dressed actors, and a rock-climbing wall.

Visitors will find a variety of restaurants around the waterfront with magnificent views of the docks and harbor featuring locally caught seafood. Shops abound whether you are looking for a souvenir T-shirt, beautiful local artwork or an exquisite piece of jewelry!
