Whether you are looking to learn how to surf, you enjoy spending some time surfing on your vacations, or you spend every day of your life in search of the perfect ride, the Outer Banks is the ideal place to surf.  The position of the barrier islands means the swells make it inshore, and the famous winds and storms help create perfect surfing conditions as well.  And, depending on how daring you are, you can surf the OBX all year round!

Beginners can learn how to surf with lessons from our great local professionals.  Experienced surfers love the nearly 100 miles of coastline which gives them tons of options when it comes to finding perfect waves to ride.

From Ocracoke Island to Carova, there are plenty of great places to catch a wave.  Check out the piers and main beaches in Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk and Nags Head with easy parking and great surfing spots.  North finds the 4-wheel drive only access to the endless beaches of Carova while south leads to the secluded beaches of Ocracoke Island or Hatteras Island which is world famous for the biggest breaks and the best waves.  No matter where you go you won’t be disappointed since coastal storms change the sandbars each year, making new breaks all the time!

Whether catching your first wave or catching waves 7 days a week, the Outer Banks provides thrills for every level of surfer.
